§ 638.11 — Third-party Notifications

After receiving a clemency application, the commission must try to find the victim and tell them about the application. The sentencing judge and prosecutor must also be notified at least 60 days before the meeting. A public notice must be published in the county newspaper.

Practical Notes
Victims have the right to attend the commission meeting and give a statement. If you are a victim in a clemency case, the commission must make reasonable efforts to help you participate in the process.
