§ 65B.47 — Priority of Applicability of Security for Payment of Basic Economic Loss Benefits

Plain-Language Summary

When multiple insurance policies could cover an auto accident, this section sets the order of which one pays first. Generally, the insurance on the vehicle involved pays first. If there is no coverage on that vehicle, then the injured person's own auto insurance policy pays.

Practical Notes
If you are hurt while driving a company vehicle or riding as a passenger, the insurance on that vehicle is responsible first, not your personal policy. This is important when filing a claim after an accident.
