§ 67A.18 — Termination

Plain-Language Summary

A member can end their membership in a township mutual fire insurance company by giving written notice or returning their policy to the secretary. The company can cancel a policy by sending at least 10 days' written notice by registered or certified mail to the policyholder and any mortgage holder listed on the policy.

Practical Notes
If you want to leave the company, simply notify the secretary in writing or return your policy. If the company cancels your policy, you must receive at least 10 days’ advance notice by certified mail, which gives you time to find replacement coverage.
