§ 79.56 — Filing Rates and Rating Information

Plain-Language Summary

This section requires workers' compensation insurers to file their rates with the commissioner before using them. The filing must include supporting data showing the rates are fair and adequate.

Practical Notes
Insurers cannot charge workers’ compensation rates without first filing them with the state. If you are an employer and believe your rates are improper, you have the right to challenge the filing through the commissioner.
