§ 82.70 — Compensation

Plain-Language Summary

This section governs how real estate licensees are compensated in Minnesota. Salespersons can only receive compensation through their broker. Brokers can share commissions with other brokers and may compensate buyer's brokers. The section also addresses commission splitting and cooperative compensation.

Practical Notes
Real estate agents in Minnesota cannot receive commission payments directly from clients – all payments must go through their broker. Sellers can authorize their broker to share part of the commission with the buyer’s broker.
