2025 Session Last amended: 2024 session

§ 94.343 — Class a Land Exchanged; Conditions

Plain-Language Summary

Class A state land can be exchanged for public or private land with unanimous Land Exchange Board approval. The lands must be of substantially equal value, meaning within 10% for parcels over 100 acres or 20% for smaller ones. The state keeps mineral and water power rights. Public hearings are required, and title must be verified before any exchange is completed.

Practical Notes
If you want to propose a land exchange with the state, you can submit a proposal to the commissioner. You will need to pay at least half the costs of valuation, surveys, title work, and other expenses. A public hearing will be held before the exchange is finalized. The state retains mineral rights in all exchanged land.
