§ 1.043 — Jurisdiction, When to Vest

Plain-Language Summary

The federal government does not get legal authority over land in Minnesota until it actually owns or has the right to use that land. If the federal government stops owning or using the land, or gives jurisdiction back to Minnesota, federal authority over that land ends.

Practical Notes
This prevents the federal government from claiming authority over land it does not yet own. It also means that when the federal government abandons a property in Minnesota, the state automatically regains full control over that land.
