§ 103D.251 — Watershed District Boundary Changes

Plain-Language Summary

This section explains how to change the boundaries of an existing watershed district. A petition must be filed with the Board of Water and Soil Resources, signed by enough counties, cities, resident owners, or the district managers. After a hearing, the board can approve or deny the boundary change.

Practical Notes
Boundary changes can be started by the district managers themselves (by resolution) or by petition with the same signature requirements as an establishment petition. The boundary change takes effect the day the order is filed with the Secretary of State. Metropolitan-area districts can also use the procedures in sections 103B.215 and 103B.225.
