§ 103D.261 — Proceedings to Enlarge Watershed District

Plain-Language Summary

This section explains how to add more land to an existing watershed district. A petition must show that the new area is next to the district and can be managed by the current board. The district managers or others can file the petition. The board can also change the district's name as part of the enlargement.

Practical Notes
The area to be added must be next to (contiguous with) the existing district. If the enlarged district covers multiple counties, the board will decide how manager positions are distributed among the counties. A majority of managers can initiate the enlargement process by filing a petition.
