§ 103D.301 — Distribution of Manager Positions

Plain-Language Summary

This section explains how manager positions are split among counties in a watershed district. When a district covers multiple counties, managers must be distributed based on each county's share of the land area and tax base. Redistribution can be requested after ten years, but no more than once every ten years.

Practical Notes
If your county feels underrepresented on a watershed district board, the county board of commissioners can petition for redistribution after ten years. The board considers both land area and net tax capacity when distributing manager positions. For districts with more than five counties, the board may create manager areas.
