§ 103D.325 — Employees

This section lets watershed district managers hire employees, including a chief engineer and professional staff. The chief engineer oversees all district projects and must report to the managers and the director each year. Managers can also authorize employees to use district credit cards, but unauthorized purchases make the employee personally liable.

Practical Notes
Employees may be required to post bonds for faithful performance of duties, paid for by the district. If an employee uses a district credit card for an unapproved purchase, they are personally liable for the amount. The chief engineer’s annual report must be shared with both the managers and the state director.
