§ 13.68 — Energy and Financial Data and Statistics

Plain-Language Summary

This section classifies certain energy and financial data held by the commissioner of commerce. Energy and financial data, statistics, and information given to the commissioner by a coal or petroleum supplier, and information about individual business customers of a public utility, are nonpublic data. Data about energy audit contracts (such as bids, agreements between utilities and third-party auditors, and cost documents) that the commissioner receives to arbitrate disputes over energy conservation audit contracts is protected nonpublic data not on individuals.

Practical Notes
Financial and energy information that coal suppliers, petroleum suppliers, or public utilities give to the commissioner of commerce, including information about a utility’s individual business customers, is generally not available to the public. Documents about energy audit contracts that the commissioner receives to resolve disputes over awarding those audits are also withheld from the public.
