§ 136A.658 — Exemption; State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement Schools

Plain-Language Summary

The office may join an interstate reciprocity agreement covering postsecondary distance (online) education if it decides doing so is in the best interest of Minnesota students. If the office joins, an institution based in another participating state that has been approved by its home state and operates under the agreement is exempt from registration and degree-approval requirements (sections 136A.61 to 136A.71). When the office administers the agreement for in-state schools, it charges a processing fee of $1,500 for institutions with 2,500 or fewer full-time equivalent students, $5,000 for 2,501 to 12,500, and $7,500 for more than 12,500.

Practical Notes
If your school participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement, it may be exempt from some Minnesota regulations.
