§ 144.55 — Licenses; Issuance, Suspension and Revocation

Plain-Language Summary

Governs licenses to operate hospitals, sanitariums, outpatient surgical centers, and other care institutions: how the commissioner of health issues them, the standards facilities must meet, and how licenses may be suspended, revoked, or not renewed. The annual license fee for an outpatient surgical center is $1,966. Before any suspension, revocation, or refusal to renew, the licensee is entitled to notice and a hearing, with the commissioner bearing the burden of proving a violation, and the commissioner's decisions may be reviewed in district court.

Practical Notes
Relevant to facility operators who need to understand how license suspension or revocation works and what they can do to appeal.
