§ 148G.02 — Scope

This chapter applies to all applicants and licensees, all persons who use the title certified midwife, and all persons in or out of this state who provide certified midwifery services to patients who reside in this state, unless there are specific applicable exemptions provided by law.

Practical Notes
Certified midwives who provide services to Minnesota residents via telehealth or other remote means from out of state are subject to Minnesota licensure requirements under this chapter. The broad reach of this section means that any certified midwife serving Minnesotans should review whether they need a Minnesota license.
