§ 148G.05 — Licensure Renewal; Relicensure

Plain-Language Summary

This section establishes the process for renewing a certified midwife license in Minnesota. Licensees must apply for renewal before their current license period ends. Renewal requires proof of current national certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board and payment of the renewal fee. Licenses that lapse due to untimely renewal require a relicensure process.

Practical Notes
Certified midwives must track their license expiration date and renew on time to avoid a lapse in their ability to practice. Practicing after a license has lapsed is subject to penalty fees under section 148G.11 in addition to potential disciplinary action. Contact the Minnesota Board of Nursing well before your license expires.
