§ 148G.16 — Immunity

Plain-Language Summary

This section protects people and organizations who in good faith report concerns about certified midwives to the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Good-faith reporters are immune from civil lawsuits and criminal prosecution. Board members, investigators, and others involved in the disciplinary process also have immunity for their work in administering the chapter.

Practical Notes
If you have a genuine concern about a certified midwife’s conduct and report it in good faith to the Board of Nursing, you are protected from being sued or criminally charged for making the report. This protection encourages reporting of legitimate public safety concerns without fear of retaliation.
