§ 246.575 — Provision of Nursing Home Services

Plain-Language Summary

The state's Direct Care and Treatment executive board provides nursing home care for people who are medically fragile, have severe behavioral challenges, or need treatment for mental illness. County preadmission screening is required before admission. The facilities can also provide technical help to community care providers and offer respite care when space is available.

Practical Notes
These state nursing homes serve people with complex needs that community facilities may not be able to handle. County screening is required before admission. Respite care is available on a space-available basis if payment is guaranteed by the person, family, or another funding source.
