2025 Session Last amended: 1987 session

§ 274.07 — List by Person Sick or Absent

Plain-Language Summary

If a person was too sick or out of town to give the assessor their property information, they or their agent can submit it later to the county auditor before taxes are finalized. The person must sign a sworn statement explaining why they could not provide the information on time.

Practical Notes
This gives property owners a second chance to report their property value if they had a legitimate reason for missing the assessor. You must provide an affidavit explaining your absence or illness. This does not apply if you simply refused to cooperate with the assessor.
