2025 Session Last amended: 2025 session

§ 473.408 — Fare Policy

Plain-Language Summary

Sets the Met Council's authority to establish fare policies for buses, light rail, and other transit.

Practical Notes
The council sets uniform fare policies and approves all fare schedules. It may adjust social fares for passengers under age 18 during high-crime times to fund transit safety, may charge reduced circulation fares in downtowns or activity centers (contributing no more than 50 percent of a route’s operating deficit), and may create discount pass programs. Regular route transit is free for certified disabled veterans and for riders certified as disabled.
