§ 525.393 — Disposal by Coroner

Plain-Language Summary

When a coroner has custody of a deceased person's belongings and no probate case is opened within three months, the coroner inventories the property. Items of little value can go to the spouse or relatives. If no probate is opened within six months, remaining property is sold at auction.
