§ 556.12 — Judgment Roll; Copy Filed

When a court rules against a corporation or cancels letters patent, the attorney general must immediately file a copy of the judgment with the secretary of state.
556.12 JUDGMENT ROLL; COPY FILED.
Upon rendition of such judgment against a corporation, or for the vacating or annulling of letters patent, the attorney general shall forthwith cause a copy of the judgment roll to be filed with the secretary of state.

Practical Notes
Filing the judgment with the secretary of state creates a public record that the corporation has been dissolved or the letters patent have been canceled. This puts the public on notice of the court’s decision.
