2025 Session Last amended: 1986 session

§ 588.08 — Return of Warrant; Penalty for Failure

Plain-Language Summary

The officer must return the contempt arrest warrant and any bail bond to the court by the date stated in the warrant. If the officer fails to do this, a new warrant can be issued for the officer's arrest, this time without the option for bail.

Practical Notes
This section holds law enforcement accountable for following through on contempt warrants. If an officer does not bring the arrested person and paperwork back to court on time, the officer personally faces arrest and detention without bail.
