§ 13.06 — Temporary Classification

Plain-Language Summary

This section allows a government entity to ask the Commissioner of Administration to temporarily classify data as private, confidential, nonpublic, or protected nonpublic when no existing statute covers that type of data. The temporary classification lasts until the legislature can act.

Practical Notes
Government entities sometimes collect new types of data that existing law does not address. This section creates a process for temporary classification so the data can be protected while the legislature decides on a permanent rule. The application itself is public, and any temporary classification is limited in time.
