§ 142G.15 — Other Eligibility Conditions

Plain-Language Summary

This section covers special eligibility situations, including families with court-ordered custody arrangements and families affected by labor strikes. When parents share custody, the child is usually counted in the home where they spend most of their time.

Practical Notes
If you share custody, you can receive MFIP for the months your child lives primarily with you. During a labor strike, you can only get MFIP if you were already receiving it or eligible before the strike started. Your pre-strike earnings will be counted as current income.
