§ 142G.61 — Community Work Experience

Plain-Language Summary

Counties can create community work experience programs that place MFIP participants in unpaid public service positions to build job skills. These placements must be in useful public services like health care, education, child care, or community service. This option is used only after other employment options are exhausted.

Practical Notes
Community work experience is designed to help you build skills and work history, not to replace regular employees. The county must consider your prior skills and experience when assigning you to a work site. You cannot be placed in a position that would displace a current employee or fill a regular job vacancy.
