The commissioner can enter agreements with federally recognized Indian tribes in Minnesota to provide MFIP employment services to tribal members and their families. Tribes must follow the same program rules and data privacy requirements as county agencies.

The commissioner allocates funding based on the number of tribal MFIP cases, and tribes must meet the same performance and reporting requirements as counties.
