§ 144G.17 — License Renewal

Plain-Language Summary

A non-provisional assisted living facility license may be renewed for up to one year if the licensee submits a renewal application in the commissioner's format at least 60 calendar days before the license expires, pays the renewal fee under section 144G.12, and meets all licensure requirements. The licensee must also show it provided assisted living services to at least one resident during the immediately preceding license year at the facility listed on the license. A late fee applies if the renewal application is received less than 30 days before the expiration date or after the license has expired.

Practical Notes
Mark your license expiration date and submit your renewal application at least 60 calendar days in advance. If your renewal application is received less than 30 days before expiration, or after the license has expired, you owe a late fee under section 144G.12, subdivision 4. Be ready to document that the facility served at least one resident during the preceding license year, since that is a renewal requirement.
