§ 145A.03 — Establishment and Organization

Plain-Language Summary

This section sets out how community health boards must be established and organized in Minnesota. Every county must participate in a community health board, either by creating one or by joining an existing one. A community health board must serve a population of at least 30,000 or be made up of three or more contiguous counties. The section also describes how cities can participate in community health boards.

Practical Notes
Community health boards are the primary vehicle for delivering local public health services in Minnesota. County boards and city councils that are part of community health boards have specific powers and duties under this chapter. Residents can find out which community health board serves their area through their county government.
