§ 147.02 — Examination; Licensing

Plain-Language Summary

This section explains how doctors who graduated from U.S. or Canadian medical schools get licensed in Minnesota. Applicants must pass required exams, complete clinical training, have good moral character, and pay fees. The board must publish all disciplinary actions at least once a year. Licensees must keep their address current with the board or risk losing their license.

Practical Notes
Applicants must pass USMLE or COMLEX steps within specific time limits and attempt limits. Military service or medical illness may qualify an applicant for extensions. If a license renewal is not completed within 30 days, the physician will be removed from the list of those authorized to practice. All disciplinary actions are published publicly.
