§ 148G.15 — Reporting Obligations

Plain-Language Summary

This section establishes mandatory and permissive reporting obligations about certified midwife conduct. Anyone may voluntarily report concerns about a certified midwife to the board. Health care institutions and other regulated entities are required to report certain actions — such as restricting a midwife's privileges — to the board within specified timeframes.

Practical Notes
Hospitals, clinics, and other health care organizations must report to the Board of Nursing when they take action to restrict or revoke a certified midwife’s practice privileges. These mandatory reports help the board track potential public safety issues across practice settings. Patients and others who have concerns about a certified midwife can also voluntarily file a report.
