§ 16B.335 — Review of Plans and Projects

Plain-Language Summary

This law requires state agencies to get legislative review before starting major construction or remodeling projects. Agencies must present their plans and cost estimates to key legislative committee chairs. A predesign step is also required where the project's purpose, scope, cost, and schedule are defined before design work begins.

Practical Notes
Many common capital projects are exempt from the full review process, including roads, bridges, parking lots, demolitions, and local projects under $1.5 million. All predesign and construction projects must consider using MINNCOR Industries products. Legislative recommendations are advisory only, but agencies must still present plans for review.
