2025 Session Last amended: 1984 session

§ 177.35 — Right of Collective Bargaining

Plain-Language Summary

Nothing in the Minnesota Fair Labor Standards Act takes away employees' right to form unions and bargain for better wages or working conditions than the minimum requirements in the law.

Practical Notes
This section makes clear that the minimum wage and overtime laws set a floor, not a ceiling. Unions can negotiate wages and benefits above the statutory minimums. The law does not limit collective bargaining rights.
