2025 Session Last amended: 2014 session

§ 214.13 — Human Services Occupations

Plain-Language Summary

The commissioner of health can register human services occupations that are not already regulated by the state. Before creating a new registration, the commissioner must evaluate whether regulation is needed and consult with existing boards. The commissioner can only register an occupation, not create a full licensing requirement. Registered persons are protected from conflicting board actions for four years.

Practical Notes
If your human services occupation is not currently regulated by the state, the commissioner of health can create a registration system for it. The process requires an application with a $1,000 fee and a thorough evaluation. The commissioner may delegate administration to an existing health licensing board.
