§ 244.42 — Comprehensive Assessment and Individualized Rehabilitation Plan Required

Plain-Language Summary

Every person in state prison must receive a comprehensive assessment and an individualized rehabilitation plan. The plan addresses the person's needs, risk factors, strengths, and community supports. Victims of certain crimes must be given the chance to provide input on the plan. Within 365 days of release, a transition and release plan must also be developed.

Practical Notes
This requirement applies to people committed to state custody on or after January 1, 2025, with at least 365 days until their release date. Victim input can include safety concerns and requests for safety protocols as conditions of imprisonment or release. This program is separate from the challenge incarceration program, work release, or conditional medical release.
