2025 Session Last amended: 2025 session

§ 245.4835 — County Maintenance of Effort

Plain-Language Summary

Counties must spend at least as much on mental health services each year as they did on average in 2004-2005, adjusted for changes in state grants. If a county underspends, the commissioner can require a corrective action plan and remove funding protections.

Practical Notes
Prevents counties from cutting mental health spending below historical levels – ensures a baseline of funding for mental health services in every county.
