2025 Session Last amended: 2025 session

§ 245.94 — Powers of Ombudsman; Reviews and Evaluations; Recommendations

Plain-Language Summary

The ombudsman can investigate complaints about agencies, facilities, and programs serving people with mental illness and developmental disabilities, access records, enter premises, issue subpoenas, and recommend corrective action. Facilities must report deaths and serious injuries within 24 hours.

Practical Notes
If you have a complaint about mental health or disability services, you can file it with the ombudsman, who has broad powers to investigate and recommend changes – and you cannot be punished for complaining.
