§ 256R.08 — Reporting of Financial Statements

Plain-Language Summary

Nursing facilities must submit financial statements to the state every year by February 1. These include audited financials, ownership statements, and lease documents. If a facility files false reports, the state can cut its payment rate, end its agreement, or prosecute.

Practical Notes
Failure to submit required financial documents can result in the reimbursement rate being cut to 80 percent. Facilities must also disclose related organizations that provide goods or services. Financial documents submitted to the state are generally public records. Nursing homes must annually report their lease and real estate costs.
