§ 259.63 — Appeals

Provides that any order, judgment, or decree in an adoption proceeding may be appealed by any affected person, following the same procedures as other civil cases.

259.63 APPEALS.

Any order, judgment, or decree of a court pursuant to the provisions of sections 259.21 to 259.63 may be appealed by any person against whom the order, judgment, or decree is made or who is affected by it as in other civil cases.

**NOTE: **A transfer of a power or responsibility in this chapter to the Department of Children, Youth, and Families is effective upon notice of the commissioner of children, youth, and families to the commissioners of administration, management and budget, and other relevant departments along with the secretary of the senate, the chief clerk of the house of representatives, and the chairs and ranking minority members of the relevant legislative committees and divisions. Practical Notes

If a court denies your adoption petition or makes another adverse ruling in an adoption proceeding, you have the right to appeal. The appeal follows standard civil case procedures.
