§ 268B.13 — Employer Premium Accounts

This section requires the commissioner to set up and maintain a premium account for each employer. All premiums collected from employers are deposited into the family and medical benefit insurance account.
268B.13 EMPLOYER PREMIUM ACCOUNTS.
The commissioner must maintain a premium account for each employer. The commissioner must assess the premium account for all the premiums due under section 268B.14, and credit the family and medical benefit insurance account with all premiums paid.

Practical Notes
Each employer has its own account that tracks how much it owes and has paid in premiums. These funds go into the state’s special account that pays for the paid leave program. This section takes effect January 1, 2026.
