§ 268B.26 — Notice Requirements

Plain-Language Summary

This section requires employers to post workplace notices about paid leave benefits and give written information to each new employee within 30 days of hire. Notices must be in English and any language spoken by five or more workers at the workplace. Employers who do not comply face penalties of $50 per employee for a first offense and $300 per employee for later offenses.

Practical Notes
Your employer must give you written information about your paid leave rights, including how to file a claim, the premium amounts being deducted, and contact information for the department. Seasonal employees must be separately notified that they are not eligible for benefits. Notices can be provided in paper or electronic format.
