§ 31.31 — Commercial Canneries, Regulation

Plain-Language Summary

This section defines commercial canneries and puts them under the commissioner's supervision. A commercial cannery is any place where food is canned, preserved by chemicals, or frozen for sale as human food, except private homes and USDA-inspected meat facilities.

Practical Notes
If you operate a business that cans, freezes, or preserves food for sale, you are considered a commercial cannery under this law. The commissioner can inspect your facility at any time and order you to fix unsanitary conditions.
