§ 325E.11 — Collection Facilities; Notice

Telephone companies must get clear consent before switching a customer's long-distance carrier. Unauthorized switching ('slamming') is prohibited and the customer is not liable for charges from an unauthorized switch.

Practical Notes
No company can switch your long-distance provider without your permission. If your service is switched without your consent, you do not have to pay the charges from the unauthorized company.
