§ 336.3-203 — Transfer of Instrument; Rights Acquired by Transfer

Plain-Language Summary

A transfer for value gives the transferee the rights the transferor had, plus any rights of a holder in due course if the transferor was one. The transferor also makes certain warranties about the instrument.

Practical Notes
When you transfer a check or note, the new person gets your rights. If you were a holder in due course, they get those extra protections too.
