§ 336.3-415 — Obligation of Endorser

Plain-Language Summary

An accommodation party is someone who signs an instrument to guarantee payment for another party. They are liable in the capacity in which they signed (as maker, drawer, endorser, etc.) and can seek reimbursement from the accommodated party.

Practical Notes
If you co-sign a note to help someone else get a loan, you are fully responsible for the debt if they do not pay.
