§ 359.061 — Record of Commission

Plain-Language Summary

Every notary must record their commission with the county. Resident notaries file in their county of residence. Nonresident notaries file in the Minnesota county they chose on their application. The county office can certify a notary official acts for a $5 fee.

Practical Notes
After receiving your notary commission, you must record it with the proper county office along with your signature samples. If someone needs to verify your notary status, the county can issue a certificate confirming your commission.
