§ 363A.19 — Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities Prohibited

Plain-Language Summary

It is illegal for hotels, restaurants, buses, and other public places to ban service animals that help people with disabilities. Businesses cannot charge extra fees for a person bringing a service animal. A 'service animal' has the same meaning as under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

Practical Notes
If you have a disability and use a service animal, no business can refuse you entry or charge you extra because of your service animal.
