§ 379.03 — Notice of Hearing

Plain-Language Summary

Before the county board acts on a petition to change town boundaries or create a new town, it must post notice of the hearing at least 30 days in advance within the affected area. The notice must include a copy of the petition and be served on the clerk of each affected town.

Practical Notes
This 30-day notice requirement gives residents time to learn about proposed changes and prepare to speak at the hearing. Town clerks in affected areas must be personally served with the notice.
