2025 Session Last amended: 2011 session

§ 484.68 — District Administrator

Plain-Language Summary

This section establishes the position of district administrator for each of Minnesota's ten judicial districts. The chief judge appoints the district administrator with Supreme Court approval, and the administrator serves at the pleasure of a majority of district judges. The district administrator manages court operations, supervises court support staff, assists the chief judge, and gathers statistics for the state court administrator.

Practical Notes
The district administrator is the chief administrative officer for an entire judicial district and plays a key role in how courts run day-to-day. Unlike judges, district administrators do not make legal decisions but handle budgeting, staffing, facilities, and operational coordination. Attorneys with administrative concerns about court operations in their district should contact the district administrator’s office.
