§ 523.01 — Authorization

Plain-Language Summary

Authorizes competent adults to designate another person or authorized corporation as their attorney-in-fact through a written, dated, and signed power of attorney.

Practical Notes
A power of attorney must be in writing, dated, and signed by the principal. If someone signs on behalf of the principal, the signature must be acknowledged before a notary. This is the foundational authorization section.
